A Drama, Czech Literature, Plays book. Dr Gall: Hoi, je to zloin star Evropy, e nauila Roboty vlit! Nemohli...
Written in 1920, R.U.R. premiered in Prague in 1921, and was first performed in New York in 1922, garnering worldwide acclaim for its author and popularizing the word "robot". Mass-produced as efficient laborers to serve humans, Capek's Robots are an android product. They remember everything but think of nothing new. But the Utopian life they provide ultimately lacks meaning, and the humans they serve stop reproducing. When the Robots revolt, killing all but one of their masters, they must strain to learn the secret of self-duplication. It is not until two Robots fall in love and are christened "Adam" and "Eve" by the last surviving human that Nature emerges triumphant.

I was hoping for so much more from this. Unfortunately it it so poorly written. Maybe it was the translation. The dialogue is stilted and unnatural. The scenes poorly laid out. Something a middle-schooler could do.But, it is most definitely of historical significance. Written in 1920, it coined the word "robot." And that alone makes... Go to it, if you hear of a theatrical production in your city that has garnered good reviews, R.U.R, Rossum's Universal Robots. Written in 1920 by Czech writer Karel Capek. It is a science fiction play, and it has the distinction of introducing the word robot into the English language. Here comes a big spoiler; humans build robots to make their life better, robots become self aware and kill humans to make the world better. All...
