2015 reading challenge - a book by an author you've never read beforeIt's been a while since I read a historical-fiction novel and I'm glad I decided to pick this one up. The historical (and geographical) aspect of this book was very well researched and I learnt a whole lot of things about the Russian Revolution, that I admit to not... Midnight in St. Petersburg was a bit slow at first, but once the pace started to pick up (and the Inna-Yasha-Horace love triangle came into the picture), the story sucked me in. My only complaint is that for someone with only basic knowledge of the Russian Revolution, many of the events and characters were confusing. It would have been... I can't really rate this one. There is not real driving plot elements, and some parts are well-done while others are not so much. It was like driving on a road where some of it was paved last month and some was paved in the last century. The level of rockiness in the storytelling can vary.
