An ok read. Not the best. Not as good a writer as I remember, but oh well. Library checked out 30 Jun - started 3 Jul; finished 5 Jul 2008The conceit is getting a bit tired... Asprin tackles environmentalism and hunting in the same book & it makes for a muddled story. Thumper has the potential to be an interesting character, but not yet. This is the fifth in the Phule series, I believe, and I was a bit disappointed. The first 2 or 3 books were incredibly funny and clever and left me anxiously waiting for each new volume. In the earlier books, the main character, Captain Jester, displays just enough seriousness to balance the wackiness of the other characters and moves...
