This is a powerful story. I was transported back to the 1800s. I enjoyed learning about Canadian history and the way things were during that time period. Most of all I loved the romance between Sam and Sara. The love story was very well developed. I like the message in this book because is about second chances. These two people who... The ending was predictable within a few pages. Usually books in which every thing is 'told' with little inference, I abandon quickly. I did read this book to the end. The research is substantive and that may be the reason I continued reading. The writing style is fairly pedantic and the characters are borderline fairy tale and likeable.... Good read about settling in the wilds of Canada and 2 people turning their lives and others around
