I was sent a copy of 'Cloths of Heaven' from Bookrabbit, and although it's very different from the usual sort of books I choose, I enjoyed it very much and finished it in one day.The book is driven by the characters rather than the plot, and there are some fabulous characters in there - from the awful, snobbish, stereotypical ex-pat... What an indictment of expats in Africa! So many shallow and self centred people populate the background in this book! Many of the characters are skilfully drawn - just had to hate Newpin and equally love the gentle portrait of Daniel and his sensitive love story. It would have been nice to have more depth, there was so much more I would... An enjoyable & quite easy read. Wasnt sure that I liked the characters to begin with but this was softened as continued through the book. Odd little twist in the tale.Not sure what the picture on front of book had to do with the contents - the title yes but the picture definitely not - in fact it is almost misleading as I thought it...
