Most M-P scholars divide his work into 3 periods: early M-P is concerned with phenomenological critiques of positivism, middle M-P is interested in integrating phenomenology with structuralism, and later M-P attempts to overcome phenomenology from within. Signs is a good example of middle M-P. Really beautiful writing, too. Book's got... do not know if i should rate this so highly, but i like everything by m-p. this is a collection of pieces, some essays, some short views, some good and some less good. there is the philosopher and his shadow, that makes up for some others. technical philosophical essays are good but others about communism or madagascar or algiers or...
