This book still haunts me today, a few years after I read it. The idea of psychic vampires was a new one for me... as was emotional vampires. E.G. as in vampires who suck the emotions out of their victims. It really shouldn't have been, but it was, and thus the book still haunts me. I am glad that Diana managed to wrap up the mystery... I enjoyed this book rather like I enjoy B-flicks: entertaining, a little bit cheesy, and somewhat unremarkable in the end. Diana ran the gamut for me, she wasn't the strong woman I had the idea she'd be, although I wouldn't categorize her as weak exactly. Unfortunately, it seemed to me that she spent an awful amount of time on either... This was the first non-high-fantasy novel by Mercedes Lackey that I read.My first impression was one of...well...disappointment. I've read dozens of Lackey's books (many several times over) and was somewhat caught off-guard by what I at first thought was an excessive amount of sarcasm.
