Iris
A Science Fiction Fantasy, Science Fiction, Fiction book. This was one weird book. I tend to lean towards hard science fiction, and so...
A small, disaffected group of artists, scientists, and software developers in route to Titan , the crew of Deepstar was seeking escape, isolation, and refuge when Iris wandered into the solar system. Now curiosity and wonder are drawing the star travelers to the mysterious gas giant and its hospitable moonsfor here lies their long sought dream of a new home and future. But an alien space-going vesselunimaginably ancient yet astonishingly still operationalhas been left behind on the surface of one of Iris's oribitn satellites by a strange and unknown culture. And the extraordinary artifact is pointing the colonist toward an even more remarkable discovery awaiting them on Iris itself; something deadly, inconceivable....and alive.

More About Iris
This book offers good science fiction to an extent, but the ending is quite weak. The sex is where the story seriously suffers. I'm a heterosexual person who can appreciate heartfelt descriptions of sensuality regardless of the genders involved, but that's not what you get in this book. The passages of gay oral sex are distinctly dominant-submissive... This was one weird book. I tend to lean towards hard science fiction, and so prefer authors that are scientists in their day jobs. But this book was technical enough to be off putting. No attempt was made to include the reader, so they could grasp the technical side of what was going on. (The normal opening is to have a lay person character... Schizophrenic. One part is all sex, personal histories and drama, the other part is mind-bending science fiction. Excellent, if a tough read.
