This book should be mandatory reading in ALL courses of study at the college level, if for no other reason than to put things into their proper perspective. For anyone who thinks "War's over, let's go home, lads" is where the story ends, you NEED to read this. I didn't get to finish this book because it was due at the library. I'll have to take it back out at another time. It was interesting stuff about the end of the war in Europe and particularly because parts of the book focused on a man in the 10th Mountain Division. A very readable and fascinating account of the real end of WWII - after DDay. Told through the stories of nine people of varying backgrounds, it provides a detailed picture of what went on in different parts of Europe. Excellent.
