This was a very detailed, and well written and researched biography of Russia's last Tsarina. It covers almost all of Alexandra's life, and does not gloss over aspects of her life or character. Alexandra herself was a woman I always felt was not the best decision maker, and had a personality that did not enable her to make the best... Written by a very accomplished historical biographer, who writes in English. Rasputin, Alexandra's most notorious mentor, enabled her to become totally dependent on him. Her hope was that he would help her to cure her hemophiliac son. Alexandra became more and more eccentric as she grew older. A fascinating read.
