South from Corregidor: The Complete Story with New Photographs, Maps and Addendum
A World War II, War book. This was my favorite read for 2015. Merrill does a wonderful job describing the fall of Corregidor,...

More About South from Corregidor: The Complete Story with New Photographs, Maps and Addendum
This is an excellent book. I recently also read The War Journal of Major Damon "Rocky" Gause , which is also a great book in itself, but South From Corregidor is in my opinion the better of the 2. Told by the captain of the USS Quail this book takes you from the beginning of the Japanese invasion of the Philippines, through their duties... This is a super memoir. I not only enjoyed the story but I learned so much about the fall of the Philippines, the Dutch East Indies, New Guinea, and Australia during the beginning of the WWII. This memoir was first published in 1943 and was republished in 2013 by Mike and Tim Deal with the support of the last surviving escapee Lyle... This was my favorite read for 2015. Merrill does a wonderful job describing the fall of Corregidor, the bombing of Cavite Naval Base, and their journey through the Philippines during WWII.
