Only having a layman's understanding of what goes into launching a mission to Mars, a lot of money and some damn smart people, I went into this book not knowing what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised on how engaging the book was.The author did an excellent... Excellent overview of the history of Mars exploration, followed by a more detailed look into how the Mars Science Lab came about and actually managed to get to Mars. Obviously being a short book, it doesn't go into exhaustive technical detail, but it does follow a few threads through so a lay reader can imagine the scope of the project...
