I struggled to finish this because I lost interest in the plot and the outcome. It is decently written although perhaps overlong since for this reader, it lost momentum and tension. Set in London's theatre district in the 1930s against the backdrop of Oswald Moseley's Blackshirts and other historical moments of importance (the burning of Crystal Palace) this is much more a historical novel than a crime mystery.
